Her father was a respected breeder and taught her to carry on his legacy once he decided to retire, but Cara often found herself out exploring the islands in search for wild Pokémon. During a trip to Unova to visit her cousins, she fell in love with an abandoned Zorua. After convincing her father to let her adopt him, he realized she would never be happy as a breeder. Cara adopted Alf shortly before leaving, and soon after returning, her father gave her a specially bread Mareep just for her.
