Sam knew pokemon from a young age. When he was young the boy received his first pokemon from a nice traveler who was there studying the city and it's technology. Upon receiving this pokemon it evolved into a Porygon 2. He loved his pokemon and as time went on he gained to other pokemon. Eventually getting curious of the world and its various myths and technology. With enough persuading from him, his parents let him go over to the Flora islands and attend the academy.
